Strong matchups on Quarterfinal Friday

Quarterfinal Friday is filled with can’t miss matchups inside NYCB LIVE home of the The Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum.

Japanese star Kei Nishikori will open the night session on Stadium Court against Moldovan Radu Albot. Nishikori, the tournament’s 5th seed, will be going for his 8th consecutive victory as he looks to fight his way back to the top of the ATP Rankings. He’ll face a difficult test in Albot, who shocked 3rd seeded American John Isner in the Wednesday night session.

The second half of the evening’s double-header will feature 20-year-old American phenom Frances Tiafoe. Tiafoe reached his first career ATP Quarterfinal on Thursday, and will be looking to extend his run on Friday night. It won’t be easy for Frances as he takes on the tournament’s top-seed and 2017 U.S. Open finalist Kevin Anderson.

Adrian Mannarino, the 4th seed, will open the Day Session at 1:00 p.m. on Stadium Court against feisty Spanish qualifier Adrian Menendez-Maceiras. Menendez-Maceiras battled through qualifying before upsetting 7th seeded American Steve Johnson and Jeremy Chardy to reach the quarterfinals. Menendez-Maceiras saved three match points against Johnson, trailing 6-3 in the third set tiebreak before battling back to win. Mannarino has won 5 of 6 career meetings with Menendez-Maceiras.

Ivo Karlovic will be up second on the Day Session on Stadium Court. He will take on the winner of Thursday’s night session match between American Sam Querrey and Mikhail Youzhny. Karlovic, the 6’11” Croatian, hit 36 aces in his first two matches to advance to the quarterfinals.

The final Day Session match will feature the doubles team of Wesley Koolhof and Artem Sitak. They will take on the winners of the match between top seeded Americans Bob and Mike Bryan and Jeremy Chardy and Fabrice Martin.
