RENOWNED NEW YORK ARTIST TED DIMOND RETURNS AS OFFICIAL ARTIST
Ted Dimond returns to the New York Open as the Official Artist of the 2019 tournament and will once again provide his original and exclusive painting trophies for the New York Open’s singles and doubles finalists and champions. The New York Open will also exhibit Dimond’s portfolio of sports art, beginning with the New York Tennis Expo on Saturday, February 9, and running through the New York Open Championships on February 17.
A native New Yorker educated in France, Dimond’s bold and innovative style bridges classical portraiture with a unique synthetic layering technique capturing the power and precision of athletes in motion.
“Our GF Sports team is constantly tested to develop unique, signature elements for the New York Open,” explained Tournament Chairman and GF Sports EVP Josh Ripple. “We started in 2018 with the presentation of the only black colored competition courts used on the worldwide ATP Tour, as well as the use of original paintings as tournament trophies. We refer to Ted as our present day Leroy Neiman, taking his position on the stadium’s sidelines or backstage to create his player paintings in real time. We love his energy and his creative talent, and his contributions are great for the players and the community.”
In addition to the original paintings created for the player trophies, Dimond will also provide the 2019 Official Painting for the New York Open—which will be signed by the ATP players and then auctioned during the week for charity.
